Job Description
To plan, implement and evaluate the provision of high-quality medical care, with appropriate resource management, to children and adolescents in the respective clinical area.
The Emory University Department of Pediatrics, Division of Neonatology, in collaboration with Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, is seeking a clinical neonatologist to join our faculty. The faculty member will contribute to the clinical, research, and teaching missions of the Division of Neonatology and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta with clinical coverage in the NICU and participation in student, resident, and fellow education.
Qualified candidates must have an MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent and must be board-certified/board-eligible in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. Candidates should have a history of academic excellence/achievement, and will be expected to work in a collaborative fashion.
The Division of Neonatology is a large and diverse group with more than 75 faculty, neonatal nurse practitioners, clinical fellows, and administrative staff. Our division is committed to providing outstanding clinical care at our three Emory-affiliated hospitals: Grady Memorial Hospital, Emory Midtown and Arthur M. Blank Children's Hospital. Our high risk Developmental Progress Clinic serves outpatients from each of these facilities as well as other regional institutions. Each year our inpatient facilities provide the setting for more than 9,000 deliveries and more than 1,500 admissions to our intensive care units. Additionally, we see more than 1,200 patients each year in our high-risk follow-up clinics. The clinical care we provide is enhanced by our attention to two other important missions, education and research. Education is the impetus that drives successful academic goals, and to this end, we teach and mentor a variety of trainees, including medical students, residents, neonatal fellows, and students in our neonatal nurse practitioner program. The discovery of new knowledge through research is the means by which our care continually improves. Our research allows us to better understand the basic foundations of biological processes and translate these findings to improvement in patient care.
Employment will be in the Emory + Children's Pediatric Institute with a faculty appointment in Emory University School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics. The Emory + Children's Pediatric Institute is an affiliation between Emory University and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta that is improving the lives of children in Georgia and beyond. This partnership, The Emory + Children's Pediatric Institute, combines the unique strengths and resources of each institution in support of our three-part academic missions of providing outstanding clinical care, conducting innovative basic science discovery and clinical research, and coordinating exceptional education of the future healthcare workforce. Our physicians, researchers, and educators have created a model where leadership, commitment and quality are fundamental components of success.
