We are in search of a physician leader to take on the role of Medical Director for Quality and Value-Based Performance. This prominent position is dedicated to enhancing value-based care within our expanding, integrated healthcare system. This role provides an opportunity to influence strategic direction, improve outcomes, and collaborate closely with both clinical and executive teams to enhance performance across Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) and commercial value-based contracts.

Role Overview

The Medical Director will spearhead physician leadership for all value-based initiatives, concentrating on enhancing quality, outcomes, utilization, and financial performance through data-informed strategies and effective teamwork.

This individual will be instrumental in promoting our organization’s involvement in the Medicare Shared Savings Program and other payer initiatives, while also working to standardize care delivery and improve performance throughout the organization.

Primary Responsibilities

• Direct value-based performance initiatives across MSSP and commercial payer contracts.

• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and operational leaders to enhance quality and utilization.

• Examine performance data and create actionable strategies to boost outcomes and reduce care costs.

• Oversee the creation and implementation of population health dashboards and provider scorecards.

• Standardize clinical workflows and evidence-based protocols to improve efficiency and care quality.

• Act as Medical Director for ACO initiatives and engage in ACO governance and operations.

• Work with payer partners to lead performance evaluations, gap closure initiatives, and improvement cycles.

Qualifications

• MD or DO, Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or Pediatrics.

• Eligible for or currently possess a Virginia medical license.

• Over 10 years of experience, including significant involvement in value-based care models.

• Proven experience with MSSP, ACOs, or other risk-based arrangements.

• Strong knowledge of HCC risk adjustment, population health management, and utilization performance.

• Familiarity with payer performance metrics, cost structures, and medical loss ratios.

• Experience with data analysis, dashboards, and performance reporting tools (Epic preferred).

• Demonstrated leadership, communication, and change management abilities.
