Toolmaker I Location: Louisville, CO (Onsite) Job Type: Contract Pay Range: $30-35/hr Job Responsibilities Assist experienced toolmakers and laser tracker operators in the fabrication, modification, and inspection of precision tools, fixtures, and components. Help set up and operate manual and CNC machine tools—including mills, lathes, and grinders—performing basic machining operations such as drilling, tapping, and deburring under supervision. Contribute to the fabrication and assembly of jigs, fixtures, and tooling while maintaining a clean, organized work area and following safety procedures, including the use of appropriate PPE. Participate in the maintenance and repair of tooling and support continuous improvement initiatives. Document completed work and maintain accurate records of tooling maintenance and repairs, collaborating with engineering and production teams to ensure tooling meets quality and performance standards. Assist laser tracker operators in setting up and operating equipment under supervision, performing dimensional measurements, and recording data accurately. Assist in the fabrication and assembly of simple tooling fixtures and perform basic maintenance of laser tracker equipment and tooling, following established safety procedures and quality standards. Job Qualifications 0–2 years of experience; entry‑level preferred. Familiarity with general shop practices, including PPE and shop safety requirements. Must be able to perform basic equipment setup, maintenance activities, and amass general mechanical aptitude and hand‑tool competency. Must use precision measurement tools and fabricate fixtures for flight and non‑flight assemblies. Self‑teach 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness. Nice to Have Machinist certification or related certification. Familiarity with laser trackers, portable CMM arms, or laser scanners. Previous experience in a manufacturing or tool‑making environment. Proficiency in using hand and power tools. Understanding of tool‑making processes and techniques. Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T. Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail. Capability to work independently and as part of a team. Good communication skills and willingness to learn and adapt. Experience with CAD/CAM software for designing and programming tooling. Knowledge of material properties and heat‑treatment processes. Experience troubleshooting and resolving issues with tooling and equipment. Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and practices. Background in machining and knowledge of GD&T. Experience with FOD control, 5S, and general EHS environments.
