Schedule: FT/Nights | Three 12hr shifts (7-7) per week with rotating weekends

  Abdominal Transplant Opportunities

Our Surgical Inpatient units are fast paced units that include high acuity patients. Are you looking to increase your knowledge base? Our Surgical Inpatient leadership team fosters an environment that supports learning, mentoring, and building each team member. 

-Patient Population: Liver, kidney, pancreas, auto islet cell, and uterus transplant patients, living liver and kidney donors, hepatology patients, hepatobiliary surgery patients, transplant preparation and more! Literature supports long term graft survival when care is provided by specially trained transplant RNs, so we see returning transplant patients who require admission regardless of diagnosis which allows us to build long-lasting relationships with this special population and their loved ones. 

-Patient Ratios: 1:4 on days, 1:5 on nights, 1:3 for certain step-down patients around the clock

-Number of Beds: 33

-Unit specific points:  

• The program has performed over 8,000 transplants since its start in 1984 and is one of the oldest in the country. 

• We were the first to successfully perform uterus transplant in the U.S. and performed over 450 organ transplants in 2021! 

• We utilize a flexible self-scheduling process to support life-work balance with no set weekend rotation and staff scheduling committee for autonomy and collaboration. 

• We also support team members in swapping shifts with each other if things come up last minute. We offer career growth opportunities within transplant starting with transplant specific certification (CCTN). 

• We are proud of our team environment where learning opportunities are present daily and questions are encouraged even from our provider partners. 

• We have a charge RN every shift who has decreased acuity or zero patient assignment and the same amount of patient care technician support 24 hours a day.

Your role as Nursing Supervisor involves supervising healthcare professionals and ensuring high patient care levels. Maintain a safe environment and nurture nursing practice to improve patient outcomes. Oversee operations, productivity, and resource distribution to meet department priorities.

• Working closely with members from different professional fields to ensure coordinated patient care.
• Assessing how effective the nursing practices are and infusing practices and research discoveries that are evidence-based.
• Fostering a caring and outcome-promoting environment.
• Encouraging development and opening up growth opportunities for staff members.
• Efficiently managing resources to promote safety within the healthcare system.

• A solid understanding of nursing standards and patient care procedures.
• Superb communication abilities and expertise in creating and assessing patient care plans.
• Familiarity with basic computer operations and diverse medical and office software applications.

QUALIFICATIONS

• EDUCATION - Bachelor's Nursing Degree or higher
• EXPERIENCE - (2) Two years of true, recent (hospital) Med/Surg, Tele, and/or PCU related RN experience and (1) One Year of Charge RN or higher experience
• CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION -Registered Nurse (RN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or obtain within 30 days of hire or transfer.
