Circulation Associate

The Linda Sokol Francis Brookfield Library, serving a community of nearly 20,000 and home to the world-famous Brookfield Zoo, seeks a part-time Circulation Associate. The library opened a new 21,000 square foot building in 2021, featuring a maker studio, study rooms, and expansive glass walls, making it light‑filled and one of the most scenic spots in town. Check us out at Essential duties and Responsibilities : Checking out materials using an automated computer system. Shelving materials Issuing library cards. Answering telephones. Processing interlibrary loans. Assisting members with our self‑check machines and other technology. Other duties as assigned. Ideal Candidates Will : Develop a rapport with members of all ages by going above and beyond to serve residents. Have a flexible schedule with weeknights and weekend availability. Enjoy creating and fostering connections with community members. Have experience with or knowledge of library resources and services. Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required. Candidates should have strong customer service, interpersonal and computer skills. Candidates should have a willingness to learn the library's circulation software and technology, and effective multitasking abilities. Previous library or circulation experience preferred. Must be able to work evenings and weekends as needed. Spanish skills a plus. Details : This is a part‑time (19 hours/week) position for $16 per hour without an LTA, up to $19 with an LTA. The position offers participation in a flexible spending account plan, 40 paid vacation hours, eight paid holidays depending on schedule, and 15 hours of sick time. Must be able to push and pull library book carts weighing approximately 100 lbs. or more and regularly stand. walk and use hands to perform tasks for part of the day.
