Lower School Tech and Engineering Teacher Anticipated Opening for the 2026-27 School Year. Classification: Exempt. Reports to: Associate Academic Director – Lower School. Annual Salary Range: $64,000 – $84,000. What You’ll Do Plan and implement high‑quality, engaging tech and engineering lessons for grades K‑5 that are differentiated to meet each student’s learning needs. Regularly assess students and the curriculum, adapting content and instruction as appropriate and communicating assessment results to parents. Subscribe to and implement the school’s philosophy of progressive and personalized education for twice‑exceptional children. Collaborate with psychosocial teachers to integrate executive‑functioning skills into the academic curriculum. Map and evaluate curriculum, including development of electives. Coordinate with specialist teams (art, theater, music, movement) to implement integrated lessons and activities. Create and maintain an orderly and aesthetic learning environment that supports social, emotional, and executive‑functioning needs. Maintain accurate records using the student information system Veracross and student work portfolios. Empower students with scaffolding, modeling, and resources while maintaining high expectations. Collaborate with academic and psychosocial staff on cross‑curricular, inquiry‑based projects. Communicate with parents and guardians via conferences, written reports, phone calls, and emails. Uphold the school’s professional code and policies, promoting the mission of the school. Utilize Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets). Attend faculty/staff meetings, professional development sessions, and required special events (e.g., open houses). Perform other duties as assigned, including leadership of student clubs or electives during the school day. Competencies Love of working with elementary‑aged children. Required Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in computer science, technology, engineering, special education, education, or a related field. Experience working with elementary school students. Preferred Education and Experience Experience as an elementary school computer science teacher. Master’s degree in computer science, technology, engineering, education, or a related field. Special education training, including gifted education and twice‑exceptional youth education. Computer science and/or special education teaching credentials/certifications. Experience teaching twice‑exceptional youth. Work Environment and Physical Demands The job is located in a school setting on the 4th floor with elevator access. It requires regular walking within the school and occasional travel to the Upper School campus (~2 blocks). Employees will stand, walk, climb stairs, and lift items up to 20 pounds. Teaching and related duties occur during a ten‑month academic year (late August—late June). Typical hours are Monday‑Friday 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.; occasional evenings or weekends (about three events per year). Compensation and Benefits Salary is dependent on experience and credentials.
