Lab Assistant - Microbiology (PRN)

Lab Assistant position in microbiology at a clinical laboratory in Austin, Texas. The role involves specimen handling, preparation, data entry, and maintenance of lab equipment in a high-volume production environment. Training period of six weeks at full-time day shift.

Responsibilities

• Receive, sort, and prepare clinical specimens for testing and analysis
• Perform data entry and scanning of specimen and patient information
• Ensure lab equipment functions properly and perform routine maintenance
• Identify and resolve specimen-related issues
• Maintain clean, safe work environment and replenish supplies as needed

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Comfort handling biological specimens and ability to accurately identify them
• Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills
• Ability to pass standardized color blindness test
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and multitasking ability
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Bachelor's degree in chemical or biological science (preferred)
