Registered Nurse | Behavioral Health | EC Therapy

Avera Health is seeking a compassionate Registered Nurse for Behavioral Health – EC Therapy to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team in the Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will provide therapeutic, patient‑centered nursing care to individuals experiencing behavioral health and psychiatric needs in an EC (Extended Care/Electroconvulsive/Enhanced Care) therapy setting. Working within a regional health system that serves communities across the Upper Midwest, you will collaborate closely with psychiatrists, advanced practice providers, therapists, social workers, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to deliver safe, evidence‑based care that supports stabilization, symptom management, and patient recovery. As a Behavioral Health RN, you will complete comprehensive nursing assessments, monitor vital signs and mental status, administer medications and treatments, and support patients before, during, and after EC‑based therapies in accordance with provider orders and established protocols. You will prioritize patient safety by consistently using de‑escalation techniques, following behavioral health safety standards, and contributing to individualized safety and treatment plans. You will educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment options, medications, and coping strategies, and ensure clear, timely documentation in the electronic health record. RNs in this role will follow established clinical policies and regulatory standards, participate in quality and safety initiatives, and support continuous improvement in behavioral health care delivery. You may precept new staff, collaborate on unit‑based projects, and assist in the development of best practices for EC therapy workflows and behavioral health nursing interventions. Flexibility, sound clinical judgment, and strong critical‑thinking skills are essential as you respond to changing patient conditions, manage crisis situations, and ensure consistent adherence to unit and organizational protocols.
