About the Position

Job Title: Certified Surgical Technician Profession: Surgical Technician Specialty: Surgical Technician Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 11:00 AM - 07:45 PM Hours per Shift: 8.75 Experience: Minimum Years of Experience required License: N/A Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: DaVinci XI experience Description: We have two operating departments. One department consists of 26 rooms and is capable of level one trauma. The other department is a 7-room mixed inpatient and outpatient unit. Your primary base will be the 7-room unit, but you may float when needed. In the case of overstaffing or if rooms finish early, floating within your skill set will be required. Your typical surgical load in the 7-room unit includes the following cases: General procedures consist mainly of hernias, appendectomies, cholecystectomies, Nissen fundoplications, PEG placements, and gastrointestinal work. Colorectal cases involve open and laparoscopic bowel resections, with some robotic procedures. Gynecological surgeries include both oncological and benign cases, open and laparoscopic surgeries, D&C, hysteroscopy, LEEP procedures, and tubal ligations. Urology procedures encompass cystoscopy, stent placements, TURB, TURP, percutaneous procedures, Holmium laser enucleation of the prostate, open surgeries, laparoscopic nephrectomies, and cystectomies, including gender affirmation procedures. Breast surgeries involve biopsies, mastectomies with lymph node dissection, and mastectomies with reconstruction. Eye surgeries occur three times a month and include plastic procedures, cataract surgeries, and vitrectomies. Brachytherapy cases involve assisting with device insertion primarily conducted by the radiation oncology team. Plastic surgeries typically occur in conjunction with breast procedures or gender affirmation. Uro-Gynecological surgeries include sling placements and anterior-posterior repairs. Robotic surgeries are primarily in Urology and Gynecology, with some bariatric cases. Our unit operates Monday through Friday and often finishes by 7 PM or 8 PM. If daily operations conclude early or if staffing is short, you will float to the main operating department to complete your shift. Obligations include two weekend call shifts per contract; otherwise, there are no additional weekend requirements.
