Certified Surgical Technologist

The Travel Certified Surgical/Scrub Technologist plays a vital role in supporting surgeons, anesthesia providers, and nursing staff throughout the perioperative process. This position involves preparing operating rooms, maintaining sterile technique, assisting during surgical procedures, managing surgical instruments and supplies, and ensuring high-quality patient care in a rural hospital setting. The role requires collaboration, clinical expertise, and the ability to respond promptly for urgent surgical cases. Responsibilities:

• Assist surgeons and surgical team during operative procedures by maintaining sterile technique, handling instruments and supplies, retracting tissue, supporting patient positioning, and facilitating surgical workflow.
• Prepare operating rooms, instruments, equipment, and supplies to ensure readiness for scheduled procedures while maintaining a safe and organized environment.
• Support perioperative patient care including patient transport, positioning, specimen management, documentation, and postoperative preparation.
• Participate in on-call coverage and be prepared to scrub urgent or emergent procedures within required response times.

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential.
• Current BLS CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
• Previous operating room experience.
• Strong knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and perioperative procedures.
• Ability to participate in call coverage and respond within required timeframes.

• Experience working in rural or community hospital settings.
• Familiarity with a broad range of surgical specialties and procedures.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills in a multidisciplinary environment.

• Reliable personal transportation is required due to limited public transit in the rural Northeast Kingdom area.
• Travelers are responsible for securing their own housing accommodations during the assignment.
• On-call coverage is required with the ability to respond promptly to urgent surgical cases.
• Work environment includes a critical access hospital with community-focused care.

• Work schedule includes perioperative shifts with potential on-call duties.
• Shift assignments are based on surgical schedules and coverage needs.
• Flexibility to respond to emergent procedures is expected.
