Together, we're improving health and improving lives.LabCorp is seeking a PRN Clinical Lab Technologist to join our microbiology team at Ascension St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, TN.Work Schedule: This is a Per Diem/PRN position; hours will be "as needed" and the start and end times will vary.Availability to cover weekends as needed between 5:30AM - 4:00PM.Job Responsibilities:Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteriaPerform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating ProceduresMonitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionalityDemonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controlsReport accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient carePerform and document preventive maintenance and quality control proceduresIdentify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessaryAssist with processing of specimens when neededMaintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipmentMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degreePreferred Qualifications:1 year or more clinical microbiology MLS experience1 year or more plate reading and gram staining experienceASCP or AMT certificationAdditional Job Standards:In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirementFamiliarity with laboratory information systemsAbility to work independently and within a team environmentProficient with computersHigh level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skillsAble to pass a standardized color blindness testFlexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needsAt Labcorp we have a passion in helping people live happy and healthy lives.
