Senior Backend / Infrastructure Engineer — Healthcare Tech (Hybrid NYC)We're a mission-driven healthcare technology company partnering with health plans and state governments to help Medicaid and Medicare members stay connected to their care and benefits.The RoleWe're looking for a Senior Backend/Infrastructure Engineer (5–8+ years) to own backend architecture across our member engagement platform, web onboarding flows, and the integration layer connecting health plan partners and internal systems. Our stack: JavaScript/TypeScript on AWS, Next.js, Supabase, Snowflake, and Postgres. You'll also help deploy pragmatic AI agents across the member experience. As one of our first in-house senior engineers, you'll shape architecture, engineering practices, and hiring standards as we grow — with real autonomy and scope.What You'll DoOwn core backend services (AWS Lambda/ECS/Fargate/API Gateway, Supabase, Postgres, Snowflake)Harden workflows currently on low-code tools into production-grade services with proper observability and testingDrive architecture for personalization, AI enablement, and a unified member hubLead vendor integrations and migrations; write ADRs and runbooksPartner cross-functionally with product, design, ops, and complianceSet the bar for API design, testing, observability, and on-call practicesAbout You5–8+ years owning production backend systems end-to-endStrong API design fundamentals (REST/event-driven), regardless of frameworkProficient in JS/TS, Python, or Kotlin; AWS infrastructure; Postgres/Supabase; Snowflake or similarExperience integrating with underdocumented vendor APIs and handling production edge casesObservability-first mindset; solid data modeling instinctsNice to have: NestJS, Terraform, Auth0, HIPAA/SOC 2 experience, LLM-powered workflow deploymentCompensation & Benefits$185,000–$200,000 base + up to 10% bonus + meaningful equity Hybrid (NYC) • Unlimited PTO • $2,000 L&D budget • 12-week paid parental leave • 401(k) match • Health/dental/vision • 5-week sabbatical at 5 years • And more
