U.S. Navy Oceanography officers (METOC) are geophysical experts applying meteorology, oceanography, and related disciplines to define the physical environment for naval operations. They lead environments data collection and analysis to support fleet and joint operations. Initial officer training includes BOAT, IWBC, and DIVOLC, with postgraduate education at NPS for higher ranks.
