About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN General, Dialysis, Mental Health) Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Staff Augmentation Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Evening Hours per Shift: 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Active RN license Certifications: Relevant certifications required Must-Have: Flexibility with shifts and hours Description: Provides professional nursing care to inmates or consumers housed in a state-owned or operated facility or institution. Observes, assesses, and records symptoms, reactions, and progress of infirmary patients and/or clinic out-patients. Makes nursing rounds, takes and records vital signs, prepares and administers prescribed medications, and follows ordered treatment plans and/or immunizations. Monitors restrained patients on a timely basis and provides immediate medical attention in emergencies. Administers first aid, arranges transportation to a hospital emergency room, and contacts staff physician when necessary. Counsels patients regarding the necessity for medical referrals. If assigned, schedules, assigns, and reviews work of lower-level staff, including the authority to approve or disapprove leave requests or complete performance evaluations. Participates in staff development and education, reviews care plans written by staff, and trains and orients new employees. Responsible for all health care of bedridden patients, including making rounds and evaluating care needed and rendered. Develops care plans, teaches health care principles, administers medication including narcotics, and provides direct nursing care as needed. Performs specialized procedures such as IV therapy, chemotherapy, wound care, oxygen therapy, dialysis, blood transfusion, intubation, CPR, tube feeding, catheterization, suctioning, and phlebotomy duties. Organizes and oversees emergency response teams and directs health care staff assigned to the area. Acts as lead worker in charge of one assigned shift in the absence of supervisory staff and assists physicians in diagnostic evaluations. Performs clerical tasks by documenting all medications, treatments, and pertinent medical information. Completes required reports and maintains an accurate inventory of controlled substances, medications, and equipment. Arranges outpatient clinic appointments and medical examinations as needed. Performs administrative tasks and serves as a liaison within the organization. Conducts and/or attends meetings and serves as an instructor or member of problem-solving teams or groups.
