SBS Corporation is seeking an experienced and motivated Construction Superintendent to oversee private and public commercial construction projects throughout the Ventura County and Santa Barbara County areas. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, along with extensive knowledge of commercial construction practices, building systems, and project coordination.

Position Summary

The Superintendent is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and supervising all field construction activities to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards and contract requirements.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day field operations for commercial construction projects.
• Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel.
• Monitor project schedules, productivity, quality control, and site safety.
• Conduct quality inspections and ensure compliance with plans, specifications, building codes, and ADA requirements.
• Review and coordinate project scopes, schedules, manpower, and material deliveries.
• Identify and resolve field issues, design conflicts, and construction challenges.
• Monitor project costs and assist in maintaining project profitability by identifying variances and implementing corrective actions.
• Coordinate inspections with owners, architects, engineers, and public agencies.
• Manage and document change orders, RFIs, daily reports, and project progress updates.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
• Maintain positive working relationships with clients, subcontractors, inspectors, and team members.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates should possess the following:

• Minimum experience supervising commercial construction projects, preferably including public works projects.
• Strong organizational and leadership skills.
• Ability to effectively manage subcontractors and multiple project activities simultaneously.
• Knowledge of ADA requirements and applicable building codes.
• Thorough understanding of commercial building systems, including:
• • Fire sprinkler systems
  • Fire alarm systems
  • Plumbing systems
  • Electrical systems
  • Mechanical/HVAC systems
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to manage schedules, budgets, and project profitability.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Proficiency in construction documentation and project coordination.
