Green Bean Baby Boutique – Charlottesville, Virginia

Schedule: Tuesday–Saturday, 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
Full-Time | 40 Hours per Week
Hourly: $19 - $22, based on experience + health reimbursement + PTO

Green Bean Baby Boutique is a locally owned baby and children's boutique in Charlottesville, Virginia, offering thoughtfully selected clothing, gifts, toys, baby gear, and essentials for growing families.

We pride ourselves on creating a warm, welcoming shopping experience while helping parents and gift-givers confidently choose products that are right for their families.

We are looking for a dependable, organized, customer-focused Assistant Manager to help oversee the day-to-day operations of the store and support our team as Green Bean continues to grow.

Position Overview

The Assistant Manager works closely with the Store Owner to ensure the store runs smoothly, customers receive exceptional service, and the sales floor is organized, well-merchandised, and ready for business each day.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys retail, takes initiative, is highly organized, and is comfortable balancing customer service with operational responsibilities.

The Assistant Manager will also serve as a leader on the sales floor and will be expected to confidently manage the store.

Key Responsibilities - Customer Experience & Sales

• Provide warm, knowledgeable, and personalized customer service.
• Help customers select baby gear, clothing, toys, gifts, and other products.
• Build strong relationships with Green Bean customers and encourage repeat business.
• Learn key product features and confidently make recommendations.
• Assist customers with purchases, returns, exchanges, and special orders.
• Help the team meet store sales goals while maintaining a helpful, non-pushy shopping environment.

Store Leadership

• Help lead and support the sales team throughout the day.
• Serve as the manager on duty when needed.
• Help ensure employees understand daily priorities and responsibilities.
• Provide coaching and feedback to team members.
• Help train new employees on customer service, products, POS procedures, and store expectations.
• Help maintain a positive, professional, and productive workplace.
• Communicate staffing, customer, inventory, or operational concerns to the Store Owner.

Merchandising & Store Appearance

• Maintain an organized, attractive, and shopable sales floor.
• Assist with merchandising new product arrivals.
• Refresh displays regularly and ensure products are appropriately stocked.
• Maintain clean and organized clothing racks, shelves, fixtures, and displays.
• Identify products or areas of the store that need additional merchandising attention.
• Help prepare the store for seasonal launches, promotions, events, and major product releases.

Inventory & Receiving

• Assist with receiving and processing incoming shipments.
• Verify merchandise and quantities when shipments arrive.
• Tag, organize, and prepare new products for the sales floor.
• Help maintain accurate inventory within Shopify.
• Assist with inventory counts and investigate discrepancies.
• Monitor low-stock items and communicate inventory needs.
• Maintain an organized stockroom and receiving area.
• Assist with seasonal switch of the store

Store Operations

• Open and/or close the store as assigned.
• Operate Shopify POS and ensure accurate transactions.
• Handle cash and daily register procedures responsibly.
• Assist with online order fulfillment, including picking, packing, and preparing orders for pickup or shipment.
• Monitor store supplies and communicate when items need to be reordered.
• Help ensure policies and procedures are followed consistently.
• Handle customer concerns professionally and escalate issues when appropriate.

Online & Omnichannel Support

Because Green Bean serves customers both in-store and online, the Assistant Manager may also:

• Fulfill Shopify orders.
• Prepare local pickup orders.
• Assist with maintaining accurate online inventory.
• Identify incorrect product information or inventory discrepancies.
• Help gather products or content for promotions, emails, or social media.
• Communicate frequently asked customer questions or product trends to management.

Preferred Experience

• Previous retail experience required.
• Previous key-holder, supervisor, lead, or management experience preferred.
• Specialty retail or boutique experience is a plus.
• Experience with Shopify or Shopify POS is a plus.
• Experience with inventory management, merchandising, or online order fulfillment is a plus.

Physical Requirements

This position requires regular standing, walking, bending, reaching, and moving merchandise throughout the store.

Candidates should be comfortable lifting and moving boxes, displays, baby gear, strollers, car seats, and other merchandise weighing approximately 30–50 pounds when needed.

Schedule

This position offers a consistent full-time retail schedule:

Tuesday–Saturday
10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. with occasional shift based on store and employee needs

Regular availability during these hours is required.

Occasional schedule adjustments may be needed for inventory, special events, holiday periods, or other business needs.

Compensation

$19-21 an hour based on experience, + $200 health reimbursement + 10 PTO Days
