Job Title

Registered Nurse – Emergency Room / Adult Admission Unit

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 4x12-Hour Shifts (19:00–07:30) | 36 or 48 Hours per Week

Key Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient nursing care on a fast-paced Adult Admission Unit directly adjacent to the Emergency Department, managing admitted patients until placement on a progressive care unit
• Monitor, interpret, and manage telemetry and dysrhythmias for a diverse patient population across all specialties except ICU-level acuity
• Manage frequent patient turnover, including both incoming admissions from the ED and outgoing transfers to inpatient units
• Operate and manage a variety of medical equipment while maintaining effective time management across a 1:4–5 patient ratio (17 beds plus up to 8 hall beds)
• Float as required to adjacent areas including admitted patient units, ICU for sub-acute care assignments, and inpatient PCU areas
• Serve as relief charge nurse as needed

Required Qualifications

• Active or pending RN licensure (non-local applicants only; candidates must reside outside a 100-mile radius)
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience; Emergency Room or high-acuity experience required for this specialty
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications (RQI certifications are not accepted)
• Demonstrated ability to monitor and interpret telemetry and manage dysrhythmias
• Willingness and ability to float within scope to meet facility needs
• Availability to work 2 out of 3 holiday bundles: Thanksgiving & the day after, Christmas Eve & Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve & New Year's Day

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior travel nursing experience (required for ER placement eligibility)
• Experience with Cerner electronic health records
• Comfort working in a high-acuity, high-volume environment with rapid patient turnover
