We are looking for an experienced, motivated, and compassionate Registered Nurse leader to join our team as an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) .

Position Summary

The Assistant Director of Nursing supports the Director of Nursing in overseeing the nursing department and ensuring residents receive safe, compassionate, and high-quality care.

The ADON will provide hands-on clinical leadership, assist with staffing and scheduling, support nursing staff, monitor clinical performance, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and help maintain compliance with applicable regulations and facility policies.

The ideal candidate is a strong clinical nurse leader who leads by example, communicates well, holds staff accountable, and knows how to build a positive nursing culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Nursing with daily nursing department operations

• Provide clinical leadership and support to RNs, LPNs/LVNs, and CNAs

• Monitor resident care to ensure quality, safety, and compliance

• Conduct clinical rounds and follow up on resident care needs

• Support accurate and timely nursing documentation

• Assist with care planning and interdisciplinary team meetings

• Monitor changes in resident condition and ensure appropriate interventions

• Assist with staffing, scheduling, assignments, and nursing coverage

• Provide guidance and support to nursing staff during clinical situations

• Coach, mentor, and develop nursing team members

• Assist with orientation and training of new nursing employees

• Participate in performance management and staff accountability

• Monitor infection prevention and control practices

• Assist with medication management and clinical audits

• Review incident reports and assist with appropriate follow-up

• Monitor quality measures and clinical outcomes

• Participate in QAPI and other performance improvement initiatives

• Assist with survey preparation and regulatory compliance

• Help maintain compliance with facility policies and applicable state and federal requirements

• Respond professionally to resident and family concerns

• Collaborate with physicians, therapy, social services, dietary, activities, and other departments

• Serve as a nursing leader and resource for staff

• Assist the DON with special projects and departmental initiatives

• Assume leadership responsibilities in the DON's absence as appropriate

What We're Looking For

• Current and unrestricted RN license in the state of employment

• Previous nursing leadership experience preferred

• SNF, skilled nursing, long-term care, or post-acute experience strongly preferred

• Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to coach, motivate, and hold staff accountable

• Strong organizational and time-management skills

• Knowledge of long-term care clinical practices and regulations

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment

• Compassionate, professional, and resident-focused approach
