Charter School of New Castle is a family-focused charter school that prides itself on staff collaboration, and community engagement. At Charter School of New Castle, we provide our students with a well-rounded educational experience which is intellectually stimulating and builds a foundation for success. Position Goal: The Special Education Teacher will be responsible for serving students with the highest needs in for math and ELA. The teacher will play an essential role in the growth and development of each of our students. The teacher will own the responsibility to plan, instruct, assess, lead, mentor, and guide each of the students on his/her caseload to academic success overcoming all hurdles and obstacles to ensuring academic success. The teacher is also responsible for the successful design, development, and implementation of academic lessons, working with other teachers and staff to analyze, assess, and improve the educational experience for our students Minimum Requirements: The ideal candidate will possess the following: Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution. Has or is eligible for State of Delaware certification as teacher in grade or content area. Experience : at least one year of teaching experience (two years experience preferred) an oustanding record of elevating student achievement in an urban classroom, with a strong understanding of pedagogy that drives results satisfactory criminal, child abuse, and FBI clearances

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Develops standards-based, measurable IEP goals based on data and individual instructional needs Create draft IEPs for students on his/her caseload Engages in ongoing weekly monitoring of student progress through structured data collection Attends and serves as an integral part of the IEP team for students on his/her caseload Provides research-based specialized instruction to address the instructional goals and objectives contained within each student's IEP Employs various teaching techniques, methods and principles of learning to enable students to meet their IEP goals Works closely with regular education teachers, special education staff, and outside resources to assist students with disabilities Maintains a caseload of approximately 20 students in elementary and middle schools Skills/Traits: Charter School of New Castle educators must:

COMMITMENT AND COMPENSATION:

Length of Work Year: 10 months, select Saturdays, and occasional evening and weekend commitments will also be required; occasional travel throughout the state and region. Salary and Benefits: Salary range is based on salary scale with qualifications and experience. Performance bonuses based off of exemplary student achievement are available.
