About This Role
We are seeking a dedicated Program Director to lead our after-school and summer camp programs at our Lisbon location. What You'll DoLeads Youth Programs
- Develops and implements program plans to support Youth Development Outcomes, ensuring that all activities align with organizational goals and mission.
- Ensures that all program staff and volunteers are properly trained and equipped to provide high-quality experiences for youth.
- Establishes and maintains program goals and settings to ensure the health and safety of members, ensuring that program areas are safe, well-ventilated, and well-lit.
- Oversees the evaluation of Club programs, tracking outcome metrics and verifying that programs/activities respond to member needs and address their gender and cultural diversity.
- Develops and implements strategies to increase member engagement and participation in program activities.
- Provides ongoing feedback and regular appraisal to program staff and volunteers, identifying areas for improvement and supporting training and development opportunities.
Manages Program Operations
- Ensures the proper implementation of childcare licensing requirements per the NH Childcare Licensing Bureau, maintaining accurate records and submitting reports as required.
- Allocates and monitors work assigned to program volunteers and staff, ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
- Controls program expenditures within the approved budget, ensuring that all financial transactions are accurate and compliant with organizational policies.
- Develops and implements strategies to increase visibility of Club programs, including posting of daily schedules and announcements of upcoming events through social media channels and parent emails.
- Ensures that all program areas are well-maintained and equipped with necessary resources, including equipment and supplies.
Supports Team Success
- Provides coaching and guidance to program staff and volunteers, supporting their professional development and growth.
- Oversees the planning and implementation of special programs and/or events, including Keystone, Youth of the Year, and Awards Programs.
- Ensures that all program staff and volunteers are aware of and comply with organizational policies and procedures, including those related to safety and confidentiality.
- Provides regular updates to leadership and other stakeholders on program progress and outcomes, identifying areas for improvement and suggesting solutions.
- Develops and maintains relationships with community partners and stakeholders, identifying opportunities for collaboration and partnership.
A program director in a school-age program shall be at least 20 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent, including but not limited to a General Equivalency Diploma (GED), a High School Equivalency Test (HiSet), or a Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC), and have at least one of the following:
(1) Written documentation from or on file with the department that she or he was qualified and employed as a site director in a school-age program on or before the effective date of these rules in 2022;
(2) A minimum of an associate’s degree in child development, education, recreation, or other field of study focused on children, awarded by an accredited college or university;
(3) Certification of successful completion of training as a recreation director plus 1000 hours of experience working with children in a licensed child care program, recreation program, or a public or private elementary school;
(4) A total of 12 credits in child development, education, recreation, or other field of study focused on children, from an accredited college plus 1000 hours of experience working with children;
(5) Current certification as an educator by the Department of Education; or
(6) Experience working with children totaling 2000 hours and:
a. Current certification as a para II educator by the Department of Education; or
b. Both of the following:
- Documentation of enrollment in a course for at least 3 credits in child development, education, recreation, or other fields of study focused on children, through an accredited college or university and a written plan on file for completion of at least 3 additional credits as specified; and
- Within 12 months of the date the individual begins working as a site director, documentation of successful completion of a total of at least 6 credits as specified in b.1. shall be on file for review by the department.
ADDITIONAL EXPECTATIONS:
- All of the candidates that are offered a job with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central and Northern New Hampshire will have to submit for an FBI fingerprint background check and submit to a background check through the State of NH Criminal Records Dept. and FirstAdvantage. Note: The State of NH Childcare Licensing Bureau may prohibit you from being employed by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central and Northern New Hampshire should there be a disqualifying finding on your criminal record. In addition, even if the State of NH reviews your records and allows you to work at the Club, we still reserve the right to determine your employment status.
