Job Title Maintenance Section Supervisor I-III – Anahuac (2601241) Overview The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) seeks a Maintenance Section Supervisor at the Anahuac Maintenance Office in the Beaumont District, located at 503 N Ross Sterling, Anahuac, TX 77514. The supervisor will lead a team, respond to emergencies, and maintain the safety and upkeep of roadways in the assigned geographic area. Salary Minimum: $65,104.00 Maximum: $129,430.00 Pay Basis / FLSA Status Yearly, Exempt Work Location Anahuac Maintenance Office – 503 N Ross Sterling, Anahuac, TX 77514 Travel Approximately 10% of the time. Shift Day shift, 40 hour week. Work hours are Monday‑Thursday 6:30 am–5:00 pm; additional hours may be required during emergency situations. Plans, coordinates, and implements emergency response to inclement weather, flooding, accidents, and hazardous material spills affecting area roadways. Plans, schedules, and coordinates work project needs to include personnel, equipment, and material with the Area Engineer and other district staff on a regular basis. Prepares and monitors the budget. Prioritizes and assigns projects to the maintenance section assistant and crew chiefs; guides them in planning and scheduling personnel/materials/equipment necessary to complete the work; ensures projects follow established safety guidelines. Responsible for maintenance section office activities including human resources, public relations, facilities, inventory management, and general office administrative matters. Trains other employees. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned. Responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of light and heavy equipment (for Supervisors II and III). Manages financial and personnel resources to achieve individual and organizational goals (for Supervisors II and III). Supervises technical staff (for Supervisors II and III). Minimum Qualifications Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent. Experience: Supervisor I: 7 years of roadway maintenance or construction‑related work. Supervisor II: 8 years of roadway maintenance or construction‑related work and 3 years of supervisory/managerial experience (or equivalent project leadership experience). Supervisor III: 9 years of roadway maintenance or construction‑related work and 3 years of supervisory/managerial experience (or equivalent project leadership experience). Experience may be satisfied by full‑time or prorated part‑time equivalency. Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year‑for‑year basis. Licenses and Certifications Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle. Knowledge of applicable plans, specifications, and estimates preparation, review, processing, and compliance requirements. Familiarity with materials used in highway/bridge construction and maintenance. Understanding of the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. Knowledge of incident management procedures. Experience with budgeting methods and procedures. Public relations skills for maintaining effective working relationships with individuals and groups, both internal and external. Ability to plan, assign, direct, coordinate, and review the work of professional, administrative, and technical employees. Capability to maintain a safe and effective working relationship with others. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme cold and heat (below 32 °F or above 100 °F for more than one hour). Subject to hazards including moving vehicles, mechanical parts, high places, heat, or chemicals. Required to wear protective gear—respirator, hard hat, or other device. Light work: lift up to 20 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs. Medium work (Supervisor II and III): lift up to 50 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 25 lbs. Standing for prolonged periods of time. Close visual acuity needed for inspection of small defects and components. Visual acuity required to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment. Must be able to perform work quality checks and general observations of facilities/structures. Fingering, picking, pinching, typing—primarily using fingers rather than whole hands. Must pass a drug test prior to employment; this is a Safety Impact position and will be subject to random drug testing. Must be able to report for duty on a 24‑hour basis to respond during emergency situations. Pre‑employment physical examination required due to the physically demanding nature of the role.
