Physician - Emergency Medicine

Job TitleThe Robert J Dole VA Medical Center (VAMC) is seeking a full-time physician to serve Veteran patients of the facility.DutiesEmergency providers can perform all the services required by the facility in the practice of Emergency medicine. Educational experiences are also provided to appropriate health care personnel who seek training in Emergency Department services (e.g., medical students, psychology and social work interns, mental health residents, physician assistant and nursing students, and medical residents). In addition, the Emergency provider participates in interdisciplinary team activities to achieve optimum interdepartmental cooperation to ensure the quality of patient care is maintained or improved. The incumbent participates in the progressive improvement of the service delivery, which may include programmatic participation in initiatives within the facility. Performs other directly related duties as assigned by the supervisor. The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:Evaluate the patient to assess changes in physical and mental status. A progress note is written in the patient's chart. Notes also include the concurrence with notes written by the residents and attending notes as appropriate.Responsible for coordinating with providers within their own and outside of their own Service Line, and with other VHA facilities or community providers as determined by the plan of care for the veteran.Ultimately responsible to ensure barriers for Veterans and staff are minimized to promote a positive work environment. Fosters positive working relationships with staff, peers and Veterans.Responsible for the provision of clinical care, graduate medical education, and scientific research as appropriate.Although on-call hours are seldom, staff within the Emergency department should be available for emergency interventions. Emergency department providers will be available to cover shifts if needed in understaffed situations per policy.The Emergency physician must be privileged by this facility in Out of Operating Room Airway Management, and Moderate Sedation.Work Schedule: 0800 - 2000 or 2000 - 0800, may vary subject to overall ED staffing
