Position Summary: The General Maintenance Technician will perform a variety of cleaning and maintenance duties along with providing assistance/coordination of set up and take down for school events.

Essential Duties:

• Assembles new furniture and equipment.
• Replaces ceiling tiles.
• Repairs student lockers as reported.
• Assists with snow removal from school property as directed as well as maintaining outdoor areas sweeping sidewalks and picking up litter.
• Perform routine maintenance items like checking/replacing light bulbs in corridors, classrooms and by exits.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the cafeteria, kitchen and all school related equipment including cleanup after lunch hours.
• Sets up events with requested table and chair arrangements for special functions, moves other furniture and equipment as directed.
• Assists with takedown of school events, including moving tables, chairs and cleaning up after the event is finished.
• Assumes general responsibility for assigned areas but takes care of other areas as need dictates.
• Ensures equipment and supply storage areas neat and orderly as well as keep maintenance inventory stocked.
• Keeps maintenance equipment in good, clean, working condition.
• Responds to emergency clean up needs in a prompt manner while complying with OSHA regulations regarding the proper disposal of body wastes and/or fluids.
• Reports any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate school personnel.
• Deliver heavy packages throughout the building.

The hours are Monday - Friday, 10 AM - 6PM, some overtime is required which may be on the weekends. Must have valid driver's license and be able to drive a non CDL passenger bus as needed.

Education/Experience Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in maintenance work preferred but willing to train a motivated person. Must be able to communicate effectively as well as possess a strong ability to work well with others. Ability to follow instructions and work independently. Ability to perform physical tasks, such as lifting, moving heavy objects along with standing for long periods of time. Occasionally must be able lift, carry, pull, push, and/or move up to 75 pounds.
