School Nurse Position

School Nurse

Assists the School District in providing the fullest possible educational opportunity for each student by minimizing absence due to illness. Create a Building/District climate of health and wellness. Maintain up-to-date cumulative health records on all students. Provides care for students and/or staff members who sustain injury or emergency illness.

Qualifications:

• Must possess an active IL Registered Nurse License
• Must be CPR/AED Certified
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Illinois State School Nurse Service Personel License

Responsibilities:

• Conducts and/or supervises school health screening
• Supervises identification and referral of students in need of medical and dental care
• Consults with parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics and other agencies on school health matters
• Observes students to detect health needs
• Visits student homes when necessary
• Participates with Administration and School Staff in developing and implementing the total school health program
• Assists in the development and maintenance of school health policy
• Prepares and submits health data and reports including health histories, as required
• Supervises exclusion and re-admission of students with infectious and contagious diseases
• Provides in-service and advises teachers on health matters, as needed
• Conducts health instruction in the building and other health topics as requested
• Administers any medical treatment and/or medication given to students while attending school
• Complies with federal, state and district policies and procedures pertaining to health issues
• Ensures adequate supplies are purchased and available
• Assumes other responsibilities as assigned

Working Conditions:

School Environment Full-Time Monday - Friday School Hours
