Please visit our Benefits section to learn more. Description Patient Care Technician-Emergency Department As-Needed Nights Shift: 7pm - 7:30am. The PCT Phlebotomist reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and accreditation standards. This role involves working under the supervision of the RN to deliver skilled patient care and related functions. Provides direct and indirect patient care in the Interventional Lab holding room, assists in maintaining a safe and clean environment, and promotes efficient patient flow. Reinforces teaching provided by the RN. Responsibilities: Demonstrates I-CARE values (Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence) daily. Maintains a friendly, professional demeanor and appearance. Provides accurate information and timely updates to patients and customers, addresses questions or concerns promptly, and offers directions as needed. Uses effective service recovery skills to resolve issues. Works collaboratively with team members across departments, communicates effectively, and respects diverse opinions. Uses resources efficiently and manages work schedules to complete tasks timely. Contributes to continuous improvement efforts, including cost reduction and service enhancement. Performs basic patient care tasks such as vital signs, skin and personal care, tailored to patient age-specific needs. Responds promptly to call lights. Collects and labels specimens accurately, transports blood and specimens safely, and manages drains and tubes. Follows infection control policies and standard precautions consistently. Operates and maintains equipment safely, performs QA and maintenance. Ensures patient safety and minimizes healthcare errors. Assists with patient admission, orientation, ambulation, discharge, and transfer. Performs procedures like phlebotomy, specimen collection, glucometer testing, and 12-lead EKG. Supports patient care in the holding room, including pre-procedural testing and documentation. Communicates changes in patient status to the RN promptly. Engages with patients and families, involving them in care planning and providing explanations. Maintains professional relationships within the department and with other departments and physicians. Documents accurately and timely, charges for procedures and supplies. Participates in professional development and staff meetings, and contributes to performance improvement activities. Demonstrates computer proficiency for documentation and order entry. Qualifications Required : High school diploma or equivalent. Licensure: CNA, CMA, EMT-B, Paramedic Certification, or completion of 2 nursing clinicals. Current Certified Nursing Assistant in Illinois (not required for current nursing students), Medical Assistant, EMT-B, Paramedic, or nursing student with clinical rotations. Ability to assess situations requiring an interpreter and utilize interpreter services effectively. CPR - Basic Life Support certification.
