Job No: 556721 Work type: Instructional Faculty - Temporary/Lecturer Location: Fresno Departments: Department of Media, Communications and Journalism Since 1928, the Media, Communications and Journalism Department has prepared thousands of students for professional media careers. The department currently offers courses in advertising, broadcast and digital journalism, film, photography, public relations and video production. Courses to be taught: MCJ 4: Writing for Visual Media MCJ 15: Filmmaking MCJ 17: Photojournalism MCJ 114W: Screenwriting other classes as needed to fulfill educational goals of current students Instructor Responsibilities: Prepare, deliver, conduct, proctor, and grade lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm and final exams. All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the entire semester, in the mode assigned (asynchronous, synchronous, in-person, or hybrid). Conditional Appointment: The appointment is contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to order of assignment provisions in the collective bargaining agreement between California State University and California Faculty Association. Applicants must demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States. CVS does not sponsor temporary faculty for work visas. Compensation: Commensurate with qualifications and experience within the salary range for Academic Year Lecturers (Class Code 2358). For a Master’s degree holder, the range is $5,507‑$6,677 per month when teaching full time (15 WTUs). Actual salary will be adjusted based on the number of WTUs assigned per term. Recruitment & Terms: Fall 2026: August 19, 2026 – December 22, 2026 Spring 2027: January 15, 2027 – May 26, 2027 Required Qualifications: PhD or MFA in media, communication and journalism or a related field with an emphasis in film/media arts. Experience: Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Preferred Qualifications: Commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, evidenced by prior teaching experiences and evaluations.
