Branch Specialist

This position is for a Branch Operations Specialist responsible for managing day-to-day branch operations, ensuring compliance with company policies, and providing support for customer-facing functions. The role involves providing members with a full range of products and services, including various account types, lending products, and cards. This specialist will float between branches in Germantown, Rockville, and Gaithersburg, Maryland, with Germantown as the home location.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze, research, and resolve problems and discrepancies related to member accounts and loans.
• Assist members with submitting applications for consumer loans, overdraft protection, and credit cards.
• Counsel current and prospective members about available financial products and services.
• Ensure proper handling of cash and other negotiable instruments.
• Identify opportunities to cross-service products and increase product penetration.
• Perform moderately complex platform banking functions under supervision.
• Understand and comply with federal and other regulations relating to financial products and services.

Required Qualifications

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Working knowledge of savings and checking products, accounts, and services.
• Effective active listening skills to accurately respond to inquiries and account requests.
• Effective organizational, planning, and time management skills.
• Effective research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Effective skill in building relationships through rapport, trust, diplomacy, and tact.
• Effective skill in exercising initiative and using good judgment to make sound decisions.
• Effective skill maintaining composure in a high-production and changing environment.
• Effective skill navigating multiple screens and PC applications and adapting to new technologies.
• Effective skill performing mathematical calculations and working accurately with numbers.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Required technology proficiency in Word.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in member or customer service, preferably in a call center, retail banking, or financial institution.
• Experience working in a credit union environment.

Work Environment

Employees are expected to be available to work Monday through Friday between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM, and on Saturdays between 8:00 AM and 3:30 PM. These guidelines support consistent staffing and operational coverage across all locations.
