Captain

Description Ensure the safety of the passengers and crew; instruct crew in safe work habits. Responsibilities Ensure departmental/company policies and standards are followed. Provide positive and effective supervision of deck crew. Ensure ferry operations meet USCG, state, and federal regulations. Assist the Senior Captain with required drills and instruct crew in emergency action/duties to ensure emergencies are effectively handled. Maintain a proper navigation watch; assess hazards to navigation including weather, currents, obstructions, traffic, debris, etc. Take responsibility to ensure the vessel is seaworthy and conditions permit safe passage; cancel trips when necessary. Maintain the ship’s log to record pertinent data as set forth in departmental policy. Track vehicles/passengers to ensure revenue is accurately accounted for daily per procedures. Conduct routine inspections of the vessel as assigned. Promptly notify the Senior Captain of maintenance issues. Inform on‑site IGC Agent, Security, and Supervisor on Duty of any internal control or state regulation violations related to gaming activity; report per company Self‑Reporting Policy. Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned. Note: this position will not perform or assist with any gaming function or access the casino vessel. Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required Must meet US Coast Guard physical requirements including USDOT drug screen; thorough knowledge of US Coast Guard regulations; understanding and experience in vessel maintenance; experience in personnel management; ability to communicate effectively with others and understand/comply with departmental, Company, and government agency regulations. Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required US Coast Guard Master’s License - 200 Ton or Master of Towing License. #J-18808-Ljbffr
