About the Position

Previous experience in a fast-paced facility. Ability to work as part of a team and maintain effective communication. Description: Telemetry, Labor and Delivery, Emergency, and Critical Care RNs will take a proctored Dysrhythmia Test onsite on day one. This is a pass/fail test. Holiday requests will be considered; however, they cannot be guaranteed. Units typically feature a 30-bed ICU with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 to 1-2, with 90% of the time being a 1 to 2 ratio. Candidates must have experience with trauma patients, neuro-strokes, head injuries, and post-TPA patients. Candidates must be able to titrate vasopressors and sedation. The charge nurse does not take a patient assignment and is available 24/7. There is one unit tech for all 30 beds who primarily provides secretary services. Intensivist and respiratory therapists are available 24/7 in the unit. Respiratory therapy equipment, including vents, CPAP, and BiPAP, is available. Registered Nurses are required to interpret their telemetry strips, which are run by a unit secretary. Self-scheduling is not finalized until reviewed by management, and shifts are scheduled about six weeks in advance. Travelers may be the first to be adjusted in scheduling, as block scheduling is not implemented. Mandatory weekend coverage includes every other weekend. There is no call or standby requirement. Floating may occur to Progressive Care and Cardiovascular Intensive Care, telemetry, or medical-surgical units. Scrub color is navy. Unit-oriented and skilled-oriented training will be provided as needed. Candidates should be prepared to work hard and seek assistance as necessary in this fast-paced environment. The culture emphasizes teamwork and collaboration. The cancellation policy allows for up to four shifts to be canceled during a 13-week assignment. Charting is performed using the Cerner system. Candidates with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree are not required, but a nursing license is necessary. The trauma level is classified as 2. This role is within an acute care setting. The shift notes specify a 12-hour days schedule, working every other weekend and being the first to float as needed.
