Security Supervisor
The incumbent in this position is responsible for assisting in the daily activities of the Security Department, on assigned shifts, in accordance with Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City corporate policy and Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission regulations.
Essential duties and responsibilities include:
- Assisting in directing team members in the security and EVS process.
- Ensuring Officers and Attendants perform duties properly and efficiently.
- Following the 37 performance categories of a Security Officer, ensuring that each new Officer successfully meets the skills needed in those performance categories.
- Assisting the Shift Managers in maintaining thorough training records on Officers in training.
- Continually evaluating new officers during and after training phases.
- Safeguarding assets and knowing and performing all Security functions and regular duties of a Security Officer.
- Establishing teamwork within the department and with other departments.
- Providing exceptional customer service to all internal and external customers.
- Patrolling property (casino, hotel, parking lot and golf course) and ensuring the safety of team members and guests.
- Responding to emergencies as needed.
- Performing 1st aid, CPR and AED as needed; maintaining certification in these areas.
- Notifying local police department when backup is necessary.
- Conducting money transfers, table fills/credits, and drops as assigned.
- Writing incident reports as assigned.
- May be required to work overtime.
- Overseeing day to day operation of EVS and Security Team Members.
- Perform other related duties as may be assigned.
Required skills and abilities include:
- Basic knowledge of Iowa civil and criminal laws.
- Knowledge and understanding of electronic, video and alarm functions.
- Knowledge and understanding of Iowa laws concerning powers of arrest.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record preferred.
Education and experience typically acquired through the completion of a high school education, or equivalent, as well as through two years progressive experience in Security operations. Supervisory experience preferred.
Physical requirements and working conditions include:
- Ability to spend majority of shift on the casino floor and hotel property, subject to varying levels of crowds, noise levels, and smoke.
- Ability to communicate effectively, with guests as well as all levels of Team Members.
- Ability to read and write legible reports.
- Ability to observe and direct actions of Team Members and guests.
- Ability to move around facility and respond to situations in an effective and efficient manner.
- Ability to identify and quickly respond to potential problems and conflicts and defend self, guests, and Team Members in combative situations.
- Ability to lift, push and pull drop boxes and money carts, and be able to assist sick or injured guests and Team Members.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions.
