Specialty: NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care Discipline: RN Start Date: 06/15/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs Hours: 36 hrs/wk Start Date: Jun 15, 2026 Length: 13 weeks Openings: 3 Responsibilities American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN - NICU for a Level III neonatal intensive care unit position requiring a minimum of 3 years of NICU experience and advanced competencies in ventilators, oscillators, and micro‑preemie care. Details Level III NICU within a hospital setting Patient population ranges from 23 weeks gestation to 4 months of age, primarily admitted from labor and delivery Conditions treated include extreme prematurity, respiratory distress syndrome, sepsis, hypoglycemia, congenital anomalies, seizures, and meconium aspiration syndrome Services provided include noninvasive nasal CPAP, mechanical ventilation, high frequency oscillation (HFO), and nitric oxide inhalation therapy Night shift: 7p–7a, 3x12‑hour shifts per week (36 hours/week) On‑call is required 13‑week contract Requirements Active DC RN license required — no pending licenses accepted Current certifications required: BLS (AHA only), NRP, STABLE, and CPI Minimum 3 years of NICU experience in a US hospital required Demonstrated experience with ventilators, oscillators, pressors, and micro‑preemie care Valid US Social Security Number required for consideration Date of birth required for consideration Two manager or supervisor references preferred, verifying experience within the most recent 12 months, with at least one from the most recent employer Candidates must reside more than 25 miles from the facility to be eligible Additional Information Nurses respond to neonatal emergencies, providing assessment and immediate care to newborns post‑delivery, and attend all C‑sections and high‑risk deliveries Bedside procedures include peripheral IV insertion, septic workups, intubations, percutaneous catheter insertions, parenteral therapy, blood and blood product administration, bronchopulmonary hygiene, medication administration, vital sign monitoring, and parent teaching Most diagnostic services are performed at the bedside All certifications must be from the American Heart Association (AHA) Benefits Premium medical, dental, vision and life insurance beginning day one of your assignment Generous 401(k) match Substantial housing stipends American Traveler Job ID #P-710455.
