Job Description: The Supervisor position requires 5 years of experience as a supervisor in repair and maintenance efforts onboard U.S. Navy ships in the Trade Skill they are supervising and On-Site Supervisors must reflect the same (3 years) experience, training, and qualifications, as the Tradesperson they are supervising. These periods of experience cannot overlap. Required Skills and Experiences: Supervisors shall possess 5 years' experience supervising the following requirements: Marine Electrician Typical Trade Tasks a. Install, groom, and remove wireways, cabling, cable racks, cabinets, enclosures, controllers, consoles and other electrical equipment. b. Inspect, groom, troubleshoot and repair ship's and ship's temporary support electrical equipment such as motors, cables, control panels, motor starters, switches, navigation lights, resistor banks, appliances and lighting equipment. c. Install and Cut-in cables and perform connection/hookup of electrical equipment such panels, switches and boxes and inspect, groom, and repair same. d. Use a multi-meter to perform voltage checks, electrical safety checks, etc. e. Install, maintain, modify, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of electrical temporary support systems, such as temporary alarm, lighting, and power distribution systems containing components such as transformers, distribution panels, control panels, safety switches and service trees using a variety of manual and power operated machinery. f. Test, repair and stage cables in the shop for use on submarines. g. Fabricate electrical connectors. Marine Electrician Trade Skill Requirements. a. The Marine Electrician shall have at least three (3) year's experience within the electrical trade, a minimum two (2) years of which includes work in industrial environments such as shipbuilding, ship-repair, or nuclear power plants. b. The Marine Electrician must be trained in typical trade related precision measurement instruments, such as electrical meters; trained in electrical safety in the workplace standards per National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70E; and trained and experienced in working with schematics and technical drawings. c. The Marine Electrician shall be capable and knowledgeable of troubleshooting/testing various ship and ship temporary support electrical, systems, circuits, controls, instruments and equipment, onboard Navy ships/vessels to include submarines and/or ship's components and able to document test requirements. d. The Marine Electrician shall have knowledge and ability to proficiently use various types of electrical and electronic measuring devices that include voltmeters, amp meters, ohmmeters, power analyzers, as well as possess the ability and knowledge to disconnect /reconnect and perform Initial Voltage Verification of electrical equipment. e. The Marine Electrician shall have a working knowledge of electrical trade mathematics and formulas in order to calculate voltage, amperes and resistance requirements and to determine size and types of material, including controls, switches, distribution panels, fuses, cable and conduit size when determining appropriate power source. f. The Marine Electrician shall have the ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, written technical instructions and manuals, make working diagrams, circuits, electrical systems, circuits, controls, instruments and equipment. g. The Marine Electrician shall be familiar with shipboard systems operating requirements, applicable professional/trade standards and practices in a Shipyard or Marine industrial facility environment.
