Focused on student academic achievement and postgraduate outcomes Welcomes difference and models respectful interaction with others Engages with the community both within and outside of ACC Job Posting Title: ACC GROW High School Intern Job Description Summary: The ACC GROW High School Intern position is a paid summer internship designed to provide high school students with hands-on work experience at Austin Community College while developing essential career readiness skills. Through structured on-campus employment and weekly career planning sessions, students will gain real-world experience, build professional skills, and explore career pathways aligned with their interests. Job Description: Description of Duties & Tasks Work Experience (Department-Based) Students will be assigned to a participating ACC department such as: ACCelerators Make It Centers (MIC) Welcome Centers Other student-facing departments Responsibilities may include: Provide excellent customer service to students, staff, and visitors Assist with front desk operations, student support, and general inquiries Support daily operations, events, or programming activities Utilize technology systems and tools to complete assigned tasks Maintain a professional and welcoming environment Complete assigned projects and tasks in a timely and accurate manner Career Readiness Requirement (Program Component) All interns are required to participate in a weekly 1:1 Career Planning Session (1 hour) with a Career Specialist. Career development activities may include: Resume and cover letter development Mock interviews (virtual and/or in-person) Job and internship search strategies Career exploration using tools such as Career Coach Strengths and career assessments (e.g., CliftonStrengths) Networking and outreach using tools such as Goldi AI Employer engagement and informational conversations Reflection on work experience and skill development Minimum Qualifications Currently enrolled high school student (rising junior or senior preferred) Ability to commit to the full program duration (June 8 – August 7, 2026) Ability to work up to 19 hours per week Interest in gaining work experience and exploring career pathways Professional Development & Engagement Actively participate in career readiness and reflection activities Demonstrate growth in workplace skills and competencies Apply feedback from supervisors and Career Specialists Engage in learning opportunities that connect work experience to future goals Knowledge Basic understanding of customer service principles Awareness of professional behavior in a workplace setting Understanding of the importance of communication, teamwork, and accountability Skills Ability to maintain a consistent work schedule Strong interpersonal and communication skills Basic organizational and time management skills Ability to follow directions and complete tasks independently or as part of a team Willingness to learn and take initiative Ability to maintain confidentiality of work-related information Physical Requirements Work is performed in a standard college campus environment May include standing, sitting, and using computers for extended periods May include occasional walking between locations Program Expectations Maintain professionalism and accountability in the workplace Attend all scheduled work shifts and career planning sessions Actively participate in career development activities Demonstrate growth in skills and workplace competencies Represent Austin Community College in a positive and professional manner Pay Rate $23.00/hr Up to 19 hours per week.
