Group Leader

POSITION SUMMARY:This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Group Leader Float supports the Site Director by leading activities with program participants. This position requires the person to be available 30-34 hours per week to work in various School Age Child Care sites to fill in for temporary vacancies due to staff absence. Depending on staffing need, worksite may be in Olympia, Tumwater, Lacey or Shelton.OUR CULTURE:Our mission and core values are brought to life by our culture. We are determined: above all else, we are on a relentless quest to make our community stronger beginning with you.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Assists Site Director at assigned site in leading groups of children in activities, monitoring the whereabouts of the children at all times, bringing situations which may evolve into serious problems to the attention of the Site Director immediately, reporting all injuries and filing incident reports for any incidents related to behavior, injury, etc. High degree of flexibility and adaptability to be able to adjust to the structure and needs of each individual site. Maintain good working relationships with students, families, school personnel and YMCA staff. Treats every participant fairly and equally regardless of differences, making every student feel good about themselves and encouraging a fun, positive environment. Maintains site in accordance with school district standards by doing such custodial duties as necessary to leave the general space, restrooms, sinks, halls, playground, etc. in clean, orderly condition. Utilize site iPad to ensure students are signed in and out daily in accordance with South Sound YMCA operating procedures.LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES:Equity & Inclusion Innovation Building Community CommunicationQUALIFICATIONS:1. Be 18 years of age.2. Education: Have or working towards completing a High School diploma or equivalent.3. Possess at least one year of experience working with children; volunteers; cooperate with schoolpersonnel in a positive, professional manner; maintain a facility in accordance with state licensingregulations and YMCA requirements; relate well to children and their families4. Pass background check through DCYF and SSYMCAUpon Hire:1. Must complete all SSYMCA required trainings within 45 days of hire.2. Complete all DCYF Licensing requirements within 14 days of hire :a. Negative Tuberculosis Testb. MMR recordc. Current Food Handler Permitd. High School or College Transcriptse. Fingerprints and DCYF background check3.
