Investment Banking Associate

Job Title: Investment Banking Associate Location: Chicago, New York, Houston, San Francisco, San Diego About the Role Marathon Capital is looking for an Investment Banking Associate to join our team. As an Associate, individuals will support the firm's energy investment banking and financial advisory efforts, lead junior banker workstreams, and work alongside senior bankers in deal origination, execution, distribution, and closing activities. Associates will gain significant experience in key aspects of the energy and investment banking industries, including building financial models, conducting industry research, and creating marketing materials. Key Responsibilities Conduct financial analysis and create detailed financial models in support of valuation and pro forma analysis of clients' businesses, projects, and acquisition targets Lead and manage junior banker workstreams in support of firm mandates Develop sector expertise in renewable and conventional power generation, power and utilities, energy technology, and infrastructure Assess strengths and risks of client positioning as well as perform due diligence on clients and acquisition candidates Support capital raise and M&A processes by preparing offering materials and distribution lists Pursue business development initiatives to further enhance the firm’s competitive position Work directly with senior-level bankers in a leading energy investment banking firm Skills & Qualifications Possess a bachelor's degree in finance, economics, sustainable energy, or a closely related field with 4+ years of experience, and/or graduated from a MBA program with 1+ years of experience in investment banking Critical thinking skills Highly motivated & proactive Experience in investment banking Robust analytical skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and teams in a fast-paced environment Close attention to detail and the ability to work towards specified timelines Strong financial modeling and advanced Microsoft Excel skills Knowledge of or interest in the renewable and conventional power generation, energy storage, power and utilities, and energy infrastructure sectors a plus Previous investment banking experience a plus About Marathon Marathon Capital is the largest independent investment bank dedicated to servicing the clean economy.
