Sonographer II

Job Summary and Responsibilities As our Sonographer, you will utilize advanced sonographic equipment to record detailed images of blood, organs, tissues, and bodily masses, including unborn fetuses, providing critical visual data for diagnosis and prenatal care. Every day you will directly interact with patients, explaining procedures, answering questions, and preparing them for scans. You will meticulously operate sonographic equipment, adjusting settings and patient positions to ensure clear, diagnostic images. You will monitor and care for patients to ensure their safety and comfort, select and examine images for pathologies, and present preliminary findings to Physicians. Correlates the clinical history with the diagnostic study to be performed. Consults with the referring physician regarding the patient's previous history and decision of appropriate ultrasonic procedures required. Consistently performs quality vascular ultrasound studies, to include non-invasive vascular testing independently involving the carotid, arterial, and venous systems. Provides the requesting physician with preliminary technical findings based on diagnostic criteria established for the procedure, if requested. Delineates normal from abnormal tissue and is able to extend the scope of the study appropriately. Provides technical assistance for surgical biopsy and aspiration procedures. Regularly practices aseptic techniques and utilizes Universal Precautions. Prepares patients for ultrasound exam, explains procedure and ensures technical quality. Job Requirements Graduate of an accredited Sonography Program or Radiologic Technology Program from an accredited institution 1 year related work experience Have one of the following: RCES, RCS, RCS, RDMS, RDCS, RDCSAE, RDCSFE, RDCSPE, RDMSAB, RDMSBR, RDMSFE, RDMSNE, RDMSOB, RDMSPS, RTCT, RTR, RVS, RVT Basic Life Support - CPR, within 14 - days Where You'll Work St. Luke's Health - Memorial Lufkin is a 279 bed facility and member of CommonSpirit Health, a national nonprofit health system.
