Role Overview We are hiring a curiosity-driven AI Research Scientist to push the boundaries of applied artificial intelligence. This role combines deep research with real-world product impact. You will design new algorithms, develop novel AI architectures, and run rigorous experiments that directly improve our real-time AI copilot used by over 1 million users. You will work at the frontier of NLP, dialogue systems, speech intelligence, and generative AI, ensuring research directly translates into production systems. Key Responsibilities Foundational Research & Algorithm Design Conduct advanced research in NLP, LLMs, dialogue systems, and generative AI Develop new architectures, training methods, and inference techniques Formulate research problems based on real-world interview AI challenges Publish research in top-tier AI conferences where applicable Experimentation & Evaluation Design rigorous experiments with strong statistical validation Conduct ablation studies, model analysis, and performance diagnostics Build evaluation frameworks for real-time conversational AI systems Ensure reproducibility and scientific rigor in all research work Research-to-Production Impact Translate research ideas into production-ready systems Optimize models for latency, efficiency, and scalability Collaborate with engineering teams to deploy research innovations Design research with real-world constraints in mind NLP, Dialogue & Multimodal AI Improve multi-turn dialogue understanding and context retention Work on retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) improvements Research personalization and adaptive AI response systems Explore speech, audio, and multimodal AI advancements Scientific Leadership Mentor junior engineers and researchers Present findings to leadership and cross-functional teams Contribute to AI roadmap and research strategy Collaborate with external research communities Required Qualifications Experience 3+ years of AI/ML research experience Strong record of research publications or applied research impact Experience translating research into production systems Experience working with cross-functional engineering teams Startup or fast-paced environment experience preferred Education PhD in Computer Science, AI, NLP, Machine Learning, or related field preferred Master’s with strong research track record also considered Technical Skills Deep expertise in Transformers, LLMs, and generative AI Strong Python and PyTorch/JAX/TensorFlow skills Experience with NLP, RLHF, RAG, and model evaluation techniques Strong mathematical foundation in probability, statistics, and optimization Experience with distributed training and experiment tracking tools Preferred Qualifications Research in real-time AI or conversational systems Experience with speech AI or multimodal learning Work on model efficiency (distillation, quantization, compression) RLHF, DPO, or alignment research experience Contributions to open-source AI projects Startup or early-stage product experience What We Offer Competitive salary and meaningful equity Remote-first flexibility High-impact AI research environment Opportunity to ship research into production at scale Fast-paced startup culture with real-world AI applications #J-18808-Ljbffr
