Summer Kickoff Volunteer at ReStore Chicago South

ReStore Chicago South is in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood and is a home improvement store and donation center selling new and gently used furniture, appliances, home goods, and building materials. ReStore Chicago regularly accepts product donations and sells a constantly changing inventory of diverse, high-quality merchandise to the public at a fraction of retail costs.

ReStore South Summer Kickoff is a family-friendly afternoon that will feature food trucks, kid-friendly activities, special sales and discounts, and opportunities for neighbors to connect with incredible organizations doing meaningful work across the South Side.

Kickoff volunteers will assist with all aspects of the event with a variety of tasks to help make the day as successful as possible while raising funds for Habitat Chicago programs.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

Assist ReStore Chicago South staff during the Summer Kickoff event. Tasks could include:

• Help customers with questions
• Bring furniture and other items for the Kickoff to/from the outside of the ReStore
• Load purchased items into customers cars
• Organize and display items for sale
• Assist with children activities

Tasks are always subject to change; we appreciate your flexibility and willingness to work on what is needed for the day. Staff will provide training for each task.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Desire to help ReStore Chicago South with its mission of providing funds for Habitat Chicago’s Affordable Homeownership Program.
• Friendly and helpful attitude.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions accurately.
• Ability to lift to 25 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to work independently and stay in communication with ReStore Chicago staff.
• No experience necessary—just bring your energy, comfy shoes and a positive attitude!
• Volunteers must be at least 14 years old. Anyone under 16 must have a chaperone who is at least 21 years of age. We require one (1) chaperone for groups of four (4) minors.
