Staff Accountant

Great Plains Manufacturing is seeking a dynamic staff accountant to join our team. This is an on-site role based in our corporate office in Salina, KS.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

• Compile and analyze financial information for preparing and booking journal entries.
• Complete a variety of month-end closing tasks independently.
• Reconcile various general ledger accounts to ensure accurate and timely reporting; clear reconciling items within the following accounting period.
• Maintain and update standard monthly reports used by management.
• Provide support for requests from Kubota headquarters, and internal or external tax groups and audit teams.
• Research and apply the appropriate accounting treatment for new transactions.
• Support the CFO and corporate controller in providing information and analyses for various ad hoc requests.
• Collaborate with others in the department to support the accounting for international subsidiaries.
• Comply with data requests from government census and industry groups.
• Prepare sales and use tax reports and submit payments.
• Maintain compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and company policies and procedures.
• Follow all Great Plains and OSHA safety regulations and wear prescribed safety and protective equipment.
• Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.

Preferred skills and qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or similar field; plus 1-3 years' experience in a similar accounting role helpful, but not required
• Proficient in MS Office Suite, including Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
• Focus on detail and accuracy
• Team player with strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to stay on task with varying priorities
