Registered Nurse - Observation Unit

Overview Employment Type: Full time. Shift: 12 Hour Night Shift (36 hours weekly). Schedule: Full-Time / 36 hours weekly / Night Shift. Location: Silver Spring, Maryland. The Clinical Nurse/Registered Nurse works in a collaborative environment at Holy Cross Health within the Observation Unit to deliver excellent patient care as part of an interdisciplinary team that provides evidence-based medicine and individualized patient care. This position is a great opportunity to work in an organization that focuses on treating the whole person. Responsibilities Provide direct nursing care to oncology, med/surg, and hospice patients. Administer medications, including chemotherapy (if certified), and monitor for side effects. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate comprehensive care plans. Offer emotional support and education to patients and families. Participate in discharge planning, pain management, and palliative care coordination. Document patient progress and communicate effectively with care team. Qualifications Graduation from an accredited nursing program; basic professional nursing degree (BSN) preferred. Must be authorized to work in the United States without a work visa or sponsorship. Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse. BLS certification; additional life‑support training as applicable to unit requirements. At least 1 year of nursing experience in an acute care setting. Superb interpersonal, communication, and collaboration abilities. Competency in electronic patient management systems. Preferred: BSN or MSN. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates.
