Port Washington, Wisconsin, United States (on-site) Job Description BluePearl Specialty + Emergency Pet Hospital in Port Washington, WI is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Assistant. Are you a team player who enjoys working together to provide quality care for pets? Responsibilities Ensure nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values. Report patient signalment, problem list, and plan during nursing rounds. Understand the classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects, and appropriately monitor therapeutic response. Administer medications via appropriate routes and durations. Perform physical exams; accurately record heart rate, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate, and effort. Triage patients, obtain detailed medical histories, and provide clear discharge instructions, including demonstrating treatments and thoroughly explaining medication administration and follow‑up care to clients. Participate in hospital tasks like cleaning checklists, client callbacks, and support other specialties as needed. Possess a working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment and assist with patients assigned ASA I or II classifications. Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrate proficiency in the designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.
