The Opportunity

We're looking for a motivated, customer-focused Help Desk Technician to support an exciting new client partnership in the Greenport, NY area.

This is a primarily work-from-home position with onsite support required as needed . Because the amount of onsite support is still being determined as we launch this new partnership, candidates must live within approximately one hour of Greenport, NY and be comfortable traveling to the client location when requested.

This is more than a traditional help desk role. You'll have an opportunity to take ownership of a new client relationship, build trust with end users, solve problems, and help establish what great IT support looks like from day one.

Our corporate headquarters are located in Albany, NY , this position will primarily work remotely while supporting the Greenport-area client.

What You'll Do

• Serve as a trusted IT resource for the client, providing responsive and professional technical support
• Work closely with the onsite client contact to prioritize issues and keep technology running smoothly
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, connectivity, and user-access issues
• Support laptops, desktops, printers, mobile devices, peripherals, and related equipment
• Manage incoming help desk calls and support tickets from initial request through resolution
• Perform routine and proactive maintenance, software updates, and minor system upgrades
• Support Microsoft 365 applications and other business software
• Assist with basic networking equipment, connectivity, and troubleshooting
• Provide clear, patient guidance and basic technology training to end users
• Accurately document issues, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions within the service management system
• Identify recurring issues and proactively recommend improvements
• Collaborate with other technical team members and escalate more complex issues when appropriate
• Learn new technologies, tools, and environments as client needs evolve

You don't need to know everything on day one. We're looking for someone who has a solid technical foundation, enjoys solving problems, and genuinely likes helping people.

Required:

• At least 1 year of professional desktop support, help desk, or related IT support experience
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a remote environment
• Professional, dependable, and comfortable interacting directly with clients
• Ability to travel to Greenport, NY within approximately one hour when onsite support is required
• Valid New York State driver's license and reliable transportation

Experience with the following is a plus:

• Microsoft 365 administration and troubleshooting
• Windows desktop environments
• Hardware and software troubleshooting
• Basic networking concepts, equipment, and protocols
• IT ticketing/service management platforms
• Technical documentation
• IT certifications, technical degree, or related education
