Outdoor Discovery Program Kayak Instructor - Dedham, MA

Job Summary Kayak Instructor – Outdoor Discovery Programs at L.L.Bean. Instruct summer kayak classes from May 1 through October 31, providing a safe, engaging learning environment and promoting L.L.Bean products. Compensation & Schedule Base pay: $17.24 per hour. Season days: May 1 – October 31 (actual duration may be shorter). Responsibilities Maintain a safe and inclusive environment for all participants. Adhere to all safety protocols and program procedures. Ensure all equipment is in working condition and report unsafe conditions. Communicate professionally with stakeholders, uphold L.L.Bean core values, and model ethical conduct. Participate in daily startup meetings and provide timely feedback to peers. Demonstrate expertise in L.L.Bean equipment and apparel to encourage product sales. Teach course curriculum confidently and adapt to a variety of participants. Deliver curriculum within allotted time, including key points for openings and closings. Complete all administrative duties: Daily Activity Reports, Participant Agreements, Roster, Incident Report, Vehicle Log, ADA documentation, Facilities Inspection Log, and other assignments. Qualifications High School diploma or GED. Certification or specialized training in outdoor activities. First Aid/CPR certification. Proven experience planning, organizing, and leading outdoor trips. Leadership skills with ability to motivate participants. Strong communication, organizational, and time‑management skills. Interpersonal, written, and verbal communication proficiency. Retail experience a plus. Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
