About the Facility – West Palm Beach Veterans Affairs Medical Center (WPBVAMC) The West Palm Beach VAMC offers a full range of patient care services, as well as comprehensive medical education and residency programs and limited research. The West Palm Beach VA Medical Center provides health services to veterans throughout South Florida and the Treasure Coast at its main facility in West Palm Beach and six contractor-operated community-based outpatient clinics in Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Fort Pierce, Okeechobee, Stuart, and Vero Beach. RN MED/SURG - RESPONSIBILITIES

• Providing professional nursing care principles, practices and procedures required to assess needs of patients.
• Knowledge of pharmaceuticals, their desired effects, and complications of their use; recognizing adverse signs and symptoms which are not always apparent and to reach promptly in emergency situations including the implementation of life-saving procedures.
• Provide counseling, guidance, and health instruction to patients; and-
• Identify disease entities in order to recognize complications and therapeutic interventions required.
• Provide professional nursing duties according to established professional nursing principles, practices, and procedures in a Med/Surg or PACU settings, assessing patient's physical, emotional, spiritual and socio-cultural needs.
• Demonstrate skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient serves; provide pre-operative and post-operative nursing care to patients.

RN MED/SURG - QUALIFICATIONS

• Completed courses for nursing from an accredited program approved by either the Commission for Education in Nursing or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
• A current license in at least one state, territory, or commonwealth in the U.S. or the District of Columbia.
• A minimum of three years' direct patient care experience.
