Hardware Technician

hackajob is collaborating with MANTECH to connect them with exceptional professionals for this role. MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Hardware Technician to join our team at the Fort Meade, MD location. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Troubleshoot malfunctioning specialized classified equipment using a wide variety of test equipment & diagnostic software to pinpoint root causes of hardware failure. Perform precise mechanical and electrical repairs and calibrations, including micro-soldering, capacitor replacement, screen replacements, and port repairs (USB-C, HDMI, etc.). Disassemble devices, clean internal components (fans, heatsinks), reapply thermal paste, and cleanly reassemble units to factory standards. Run comprehensive post-repair benchmarks and stress tests to ensure hardware stability and full functionality before redeployment. Parts Management: Maintain an organized inventory of spare parts, request components for ordering, and document all parts used in the ticketing system. Strictly adhere to Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) safety protocols and guidelines for handling hazardous materials like damaged lithium-ion batteries. Minimum Qualifications: 1 years of experience with a high school diploma or equivalent Proficiency with precision hand tools, test equipment, soldering irons, heat guns, and rework stations. Deep knowledge of internal device anatomy (E.g. motherboards, power supplies, logic boards, LCD panels). Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, board views, and technical repair manuals. Solid understanding of ESD safety procedures and proper chemical usage (e.g., Isopropyl alcohol, flux). Preferred Qualifications: Technical school degree or certifications in electronics/computer repair CompTIA A IPC A-610 or IPC-7711/7721 (Soldering/Rework Certifications) Apple Certified Macintosh Technician (ACMT) / Vendor-specific repair certs (Dell, HP, Lenovo) Clearance Requirements: Must have a current/active TS/SCI w/ Poly Physical Requirements: Must be able to move and lift 40 pounds. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%. Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for handling microscopic or fragile components.
