Position Overview

We are seeking a certified and highly motivated Special Education Teacher to provide individualized, inclusive, and compliant instruction for students receiving special education services. This role focuses on developing and implementing effective instructional strategies, supporting academic and social-emotional growth, and ensuring compliance with IEPs and state and federal regulations.

The ideal candidate is an advocate for students, skilled in differentiation, and committed to equity and student success.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Provide specialized instruction tailored to students' unique learning needs
• Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and support staff
• Adapt and modify curriculum, instructional materials, and assessments
• Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed
• Maintain accurate and compliant documentation and records
• Support students' academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development
• Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and needs
• Promote inclusive practices and a positive learning environment
• Participate in IEP meetings, professional development, and team collaboration
• Perform other duties as assigned to support daily school operations

Qualifications
Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
• Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a special education setting preferred

Certification

• Active teaching certification required
• North Carolina Professional Educator's License in Special Education required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong knowledge of special education laws and IEP compliance
• Experience with differentiated and individualized instruction
• Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team
• Commitment to equity, inclusion, and student-centered practices
• Proficiency with instructional and assistive technology

Additional Requirements

• Must be authorized to work in the United States
• Ability to meet the physical and professional demands of a full-time teaching role
