Job Summary
Under general supervision of the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor, delivers life-support, resuscitation, monitoring and various medical gases therapy to patients. Performs invasive and non-invasive diagnostic procedures to Intensive Care and General Practice Units patients. Maintains clinical expertise for Departmental assignments at various business units throughout, as assigned. Communicates effectively with patients, co-workers, physicians and other system employees as needed, regarding patient care needs. Adequately documents all aspects of patient care. Supervises, directs and delegates to Respiratory Therapists, Respiratory orients, externs and students, as assigned. Completes necessary and accurate patient billing information.


Key Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively with patients, co-workers, physicians and other system employees as needed regarding patient care needs.
  
  
• Adequately document all aspects of patient care.
  
  
• Supervise, direct and delegate to Respiratory Therapists, Respiratory orients, externs and students, as assigned.
  
  
• Complete necessary and accurate patient billing information.
  
  
• Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the role.

Qualifications

Required

• Associate of Science Degree, from an accredited Respiratory Therapist program.
  
  
• Two years of recent Respiratory Therapist experience.
  
  
• Current licensure and certification.
  
  
• Ability to provide respiratory therapy services to Intensive Care and General Practice Units patients.
  
  
• Effective communication skills with patients, co-workers, physicians and other system employees.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE

• Registration with the National Board of Respiratory Care.
  
  
• Current License - Respiratory Therapist in the State of Michigan.
  
  
• BLS certification.

Working Conditions
Position may be based in a hospital or ambulatory/mobile imaging setting. Exposure to radiation, high-voltage equipment, and infectious diseases is possible with appropriate safety precautions. Position may require assisting with patient transfers and moving equipment.
