Registered Nurse - Weekend

Lehigh Valley Health Network is seeking a registered nurse to provide professional nursing care through assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with facility policies. This position directs and manages the care of designated patients and utilizes effective communication styles. Job Duties Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for designated patients. Initiate collaboration and communication with physicians, interdisciplinary team members, and proactively resolve patient needs. Synthesize available data, information, and knowledge to make decisions that optimize patient outcomes, following ANA Scope and Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics. Demonstrate commitment to quality and safety through evidence-based practice. Participate in evidence-based projects as applicable. Use effective verbal and non-verbal communication with patients, visitors, staff, and professional colleagues. Coordinate and provide patient and family education throughout the treatment course to facilitate an effective transition of care. Serve as a department team member to support unit and hospital goals. Participate in all phases of the performance improvement process, including organizational and unit-based patient experience goals. Perform validated technical skills based on clinical specialty and unit practice. Utilize technology to optimize alternative modes of care delivery. Demonstrate leadership and team building skills, including teaching and mentoring new colleagues and department interns; delegating based on team member skills, acuity, and patient needs; and providing input for performance appraisals of care delivery team members. Minimum Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Nursing program. Knowledge and competence reflecting current nursing practice. Ability to organize and prioritize assignments in patient care delivery. Successful completion of additional orientation programs related to specialty. Attainment and maintenance of unit-specific competencies. Basic computer skills. American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification – State of Pennsylvania (upon hire). RN license – State of Pennsylvania (upon hire). Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. Physical Demands Lift and carry 40–50 lbs. Perform push/pull patient transfers requiring up to 29 lbs. push force; lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of patient weight. Maintain frequent to continuous standing and walking. Patient transporters may walk 8–10 miles per shift. Perform tasks such as kneeling, bending, squatting, and CPR as required for the role.
