SAP Business Analyst

Client is tasked with working with taxpayer records in order to conduct an audit to ensure proper collection and remittance of state taxes and fees. The majority of large taxpayers use SAP Financial Accounting Systems. To ensure that we have the optimum solution for current and future processing needs, we are requesting an independent contractor (Worker) to analyze current procedures and identify business process improvements to extract SAP data needed to conduct audits, document these procedures, and train our employees so that they can assist taxpayers in extracting the data we need.

The Worker will need to perform the following tasks and assignments:

• Analyze current procedures with SAP software and identify business improvements
• Analyze, develop and execute reporting for meaningful business activities/initiatives, including developing time estimates, executing reporting tasks, formatting and editing as required.
• Collaborate on technical reporting solutions and designs; ensuring business needs are appropriately addressed through appropriate technical/software solutions and configurations.
• Assist in defining reporting needs, based on existing and future business requirements.
• Review system processes to ensure reporting objectives are achievable and recommends process changes accordingly.
• Use industry standard analysis techniques such as data flow modeling, workflow analysis, functional decomposition analysis and business rule definition to analyze business objectives/needs and document business requirements.
• Evaluate and analyzes information gathered from multiple sources, reconciles conflicts with both high-level information and details.
• Provide mentoring and coaching to other functional and technical team members in the SAP FICO area.
• Work with team members, subject matter experts and vendors
• Create accurate documentation of current environment and recommended environment
• Create training materials and lead training classes regarding SAP data extraction
• Troubleshoot implementation issues

Worker skills and qualifications (Required):

• Knowledge of US accounting processes and requirements
• Ability to document and analyze business process flows to propose and implement improvements.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Must be able to work independently
• Must be able to work in a diverse team environment
• Must possess problem-solving skills and ability to multi-task
• Must be able to retain knowledge of environment and systems once given instruction
• Knowledge of project management and software development methodologies
• Knowledge of SAP database design and functionality
• Knowledge of SAP financial reporting functionality
• Must be able to work around projects and deadlines with readiness to put in extra efforts when necessary
• Perform related work as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: Experience and working knowledge in industry/consulting work in SAP. - 8 years Experience with SAP databases and familiarity with the reports that SAP produces. - 8 years Experience with business processes in identifying as-is processes and to-be processes. - 8 years Experience with configuring scenarios in relevant SAP modules and writing functional specifications/configurations documents. - 5 years Utilizing time management techniques effectively/efficiently in order to complete multiple assignments within a scheduled time period - 3 years Skilled in identifying and resolving problems by using strong analytical techniques, innovative approaches and taking initiative in preventing and solving problems. - 3 years Extensive experience with complex application and data security requirements - 3 years Preferences: SAP FICO Functional Consultant; CPA license Working Data Extraction - 3 years Public sector experience (Federal, State or Local Government). - 3 years Proficient with the Microsoft Office products, including MSWord, Visio, Excel and PowerPoint. - 3 years
