Performs administrative/clerical duties in support of the department.
Strives daily to give all customers excellent patient care and promotes Valley View Medical Centers' Standards of Behavior. Promotes culture of safety for patients through proper identification, reporting, and documentation. Responsible for performing tasks that are within the scope of his/her educational preparation, competency, knowledge, and permitted by the policies and procedures of Valley View Medical Center and other local, state, and federal guidelines. Compliant with HIPAA/Confidentiality regulations at all times. Maintains compliance with organizational and regulatory policies for handling confidential patient information. Adheres to infection control policies and protocols for themselves and the patients. Displays professionalism while completing multiple urgent tasks in a timely manner.
Demonstrates leadership behaviors in training and mentoring of new UCs, ensuring that procedures are correctly followed.
Greets patients and visitors. Answers, screens, and routes telephone calls. Calls codes, pages, and overhead announcements as requested.
Enters nursing requests subject to the approval of a licensed nurse. Asks for clarification when necessary.
Assists with processing patient admissions, transfers, and discharges. Assembles and maintains patient records and charts.
Performs needed clerical tasks, including copying, filing, and ordering/stocking supplies.
Assists RNs and physicians with other patient activities as needed.
Maintains and prepares confidential records and documents. Creates and maintains patient charts for the ED. Works with the House Supervisor in the coordination of bed assignments for patients to be admitted and reports information to the RN. Assists with the facilitation of patient transfers with receiving hospitals, and mental health facilities. Functions as a liaison between the facility and contract personnel, i.e. pastors, mental health, visiting physicians, law enforcement and dispatch. Serves as a resource to staff and external contacts on issues related to patient care, patient flow, and clinical standards, policies, and procedures.

Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent Preferred Required. Education with scope of this position Preferred Required. Medical Terminology Course Preferred.
Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association Required.
